The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is a trusted and admired Australian icon. As the largest and most comprehensive aero-medical organisation in the world, it continues to provide a lifeline to those who live, work and travel in rural, remote and increasingly, metropolitan Australia.

RFDS Central Operations services the community from three operating bases flying across South Australia and the southern part of the Northern Territory – a total of 2.3 million square kilometres of land. The RFDS also operates the Ayers Rock Medical Centre, Tennant Creek GP Service and Marree Health Service.

This year, over 200,000 Australians will receive medical care from the Royal Flying Doctor Service. That's approximately 550 people every day or 1 patient contact every 3 minutes.
