Pinda Springs (EL 3159; Marathon 100%) is located in the North Central Flinders Ranges, about 50 kilometres southeast of the Leigh Creek township and about 25 kilometres east-north-east from the old copper mine at Blinman. The licence covers outcropping Neoproterozoic sequences of the Wilpena Group prospective for metalliferous mineralisation.
Previous exploration results suggest the possibility of a gold, base metal and/or polymetallic mineralised system.
Exploration during fiscal 2006 included stream sediment sampling and geological mapping in the south-eastern portion of the tenement. Marathon has sourced a drill rig to carry out further exploration in the March quarter of 2007.
The drilling will target anomalies identified from magnetic and gravity data as well as the recents of recent stream sediment sampling and follow-up soil sampling.
